Sketchbook Project – Mythical Creatures

Mythical Creatures | Sandra Burns Art

Who doesn’t love a world of fantasy? These mythical creatures are from a series of fictional characters in my high school sketchbook!

Do you like my mythical creatures?

  • First, these illustrations were sketched in pencil.

  • Once I was happy with the drawings, I traced the outlines in black ink pen and erased the pencil marks.

  • Then I filled in the colour by painting with coloured inks.

  • And finally, shading and details were added to the images with Chinagraph pencils.

They were great fun to create! There’s a child-like joy in creating a fantasy drawing.

Did I capture the essence of these little critters? My mythical creatures.

Not too bad, hey!

  1. Like the drawings and the coloring of them. Did you have a story in mine to connect them? Or stories of them separately.

    1. They were inspired by the memory of a book I had as a child – something about fairies at the bottom of the garden. I’d like to do more along this line, but will have to wait until I have the right at supplies again. Thanks for following my art journey. 🙂
