Painting Ferns in Acrylic

Learning to paint ferns. This was an exercise I did last year – researching how to paint ferns in acrylic paint.

I first worked on the maidenhair fern, but wasn’t completely happy with it. So I moved on to the fishbone fern – that’s the one that I used in my FLOWERS FOR YOU painting.

In hindsight, the maidenhair fern wasn’t too bad.

What do you think?

  1. Nice work, I always love painting ferns. Once you start looking it’s amazing the different types.
I like adding broken ones that have gone brown for more realism

    1. Oh that’s a good idea. I didn’t think of that. I wanted these ones to be green and fresh though, so I’m happy with how they worked out.
