Representing a desire for change and a need to move on. This new beginnings artwork features a female subject, turning around and taking a step away. Each part of the movement is represented by different colours as she shifts weight from one foot to the other.

First, a pencil sketch of someone turning around – showing four stages of the turn and weight-shift. I then traced the image onto fresh paper. After marking the outlines with ink pen and allowing to dry, each section was individually filled with water and drips of coloured ink, again waiting for each colour to dry before moving on to the next. I love the way the blue ink mixed with the water to form intricate swirls. Once everything was dry, I added shading and contours with wax pencils. I love the end result.
