Starting With A Dot

Every so often I do a sketchbook task “starting with a dot”. I approach it with nothing pre-determined. Sometimes it progresses to geometric shapes, or flowing lines, or line drawings of actual objects. The dot is just somewhere to start.

Today my dot became a spiral.

But when I look at it, as a viewer, I’m conflicted. Technically, starting with a dot means you start in the middle. Growing, progressing, expanding – this could be about life, or art, or knowledge – about so many things.

But sometimes when I look at it, I feel like I’m at the outside looking in. The human brain can be tricky sometimes.

What do you feel, or see?

  3. Yes, I can understand what you mean Sandra. At first sight, it reminded me of a 7-Circuit Labyrinth. Sometimes you have those conflicting types of emotions when you initially walk one, yet there is an eventual calm that settles in afterward. Good exercise. 😁🌺🌞✍🏻😘
