Five-minute sketches

Last week I shared a sketch of my tea cup. This was part of a sketching exercise, a prompt by Jacksons Art. Here’s the full set of sketches, each for 5 minutes.

As I said last week, it’s surprising how quickly five minutes go by. I was pleased with the outcome, and the sketches don’t look as bad as I expected.

Sketch 1 – instinctive drawing – to just ‘draw’ an object (I chose my cup).
Sketch 2 – weaker hand – drawing with my left hand.
Sketch 3 – negative space – looking at the space around the object.
Sketch 4 – blind contour drawing – not being able to see the paper you are drawing on.

So what do you think? How would your drawings look?

    1. Haha, it was hard work… and stressful. I honestly thought that last one was going to just look like scribble. 🀣🀣
